When Ford launched the compact Escort worldwide in 1981, they called it the World Car. Here was a front-wheel drive hatchback or wagon with independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, and overhead cam. The Escort immediately became one of Ford’s best sellers and in the U.S. it was the top-selling car overall for most of the 1980s. Ford manufactured the Escort’s final generation, before evolving into the Ford Focus, between 1997 and 2002 and included a sporty coupe to the mix. This Escort ZX2 coupe replaced the Ford Probe as Ford’s sport compact and, although short-lived, was as popular as the GT models had ever been. The sport versions of Ford’s iconic Escort model live on thanks to a strong following of enthusiasts. Here at Automotive Concepts, we offer those enthusiasts all the choice Ford Escort parts and Ford Escort accessories they need to keep their car in peak condition.
