Beginning in 1969, Chevrolet pioneered sport utility vehicles (SUVs) with the K5 Blazer, one of the most popular SUVs and off-road vehicles in American history. As if that wasn’t enough, Chevrolet did it again, this time for compact and mid-size SUVs, when they launched the S-10 Blazer in 1983 based on their immensely popular S-10 compact pickup. In 1995, Chevrolet dropped the S-10 prefix when they launched the “second-gen” Blazers.
