The Silverado is Chevrolet's answer to the popular Ford F-series, debuting in 1998 as a replacement for the venerable C/K series, which dated back to 1960. The much loved C/K models were held in high regard by truck fans across the country so the Silverado had big shoes to fill. Initially made as the light duty trucks with the GMT400 designation, this model was rapidly replaced by a heavy duty model, the GMT800, though both models were produced side-by-side until 2001. Chevrolet intentionally added several 'sports car' options with the production of the SS versions of the Silverado, following the same nomenclature assigned to family members including the Camaro and Impala. The Silverado served as the basis for Chevrolet's Denali extended cab trucks as well. The militarized version of the Silverado has been adopted as a heavy duty vehicle by the Canadian armed forces, while a heavier armored version has seen use by the United States Army. Automotive Concepts may not carry heavy armor, but we do have superior Chevy Silverado parts and Chevy Silverado accessories to meet more modest needs.
