Driving safely gets attention with lighted exterior rearview Signal® Mirrors by Muth Mirror Systems. Flashing LED chevrons alert drivers in your blind spot of your intention to turn or change lanes. This allows you plenty of time to reduce the chance of an accident. Ideal for towing boats or RVs, too.
Muth Signal Mirrors use high-intensity LED lamps to turn ordinary exterior rearview mirrors into safety features that command attention. When a turn signal is activated, a flashing chevron < appears in the corresponding side mirror to alert drivers in the "blind spot" of your intentions. When emergency hazard flashers are used, both mirrors flash warning signals. The mirrors function as conventional rearview mirrors when the signals or hazards are not activated.
While surrounding drivers see a bright, attention-getting display, the driver of the vehicle equipped with Signal Mirrors sees only a subtle tell-tale display - a reminder the mirror is activated. Electronic sensors automatically adjust the signal intensity so the chevron display is brighter during the day and dimmer at night.
Blind Spot Every year there are over 200,000 lane-change and merging traffic accidents. Over 200 of these accidents result in fatalities. Signal Mirrors are positioned at the eye level of adjacent drivers making them more noticeable than conventional tail lights. With the increased popularity of taller vehicles, i.e. SUV's, trucks and mini-vans, a turn signal from the tail lamp may be "hidden" by these larger vehicles. The signal from the side mirror may be the only visible indicator to drivers two or three cars back.
Reaction Time Signal Mirrors use LED lamps which illuminate 1/5 of a second faster than conventional incandescent tail lights. This provides drivers in the "blind spot" of the Signal Mirror equipped vehicle an additional 17 feet of reaction distance when traveling at 65 m.p.h. Thus, unlike other accessories that soften an accident, Signal Mirrors actually may help prevent one.
